About the event
Handbuilding is creating pieces without the use of a potter's wheel. There are 3 main techniques in handbuilding: pinch, coil, and slab. In this beginers course we will make three mugs, each with a different handbuilding technique. We will also explore three different handle making techniques. This is a great way to explore and learn all the basics you need to start handbuilding with clay. You will not be able to take your piece home the same day. Your piece will need time to dry and be fired. After being fired you will have the oportunity to come back and glaze your piece on a future date that works for you before it gets fired a second and final time. Class will be held in the Oxford Clay Center behind Needs Pottery. Parking available in alley. Recommended for ages 12+ (can be younger if assisted by an accompanying adult).
